Hi all,

is it possible to synchronize the changes made in a Rhapsody model with the file directory layout if you are not using a CM tool? (I mean: I would like that when I delete, remove or rename a unit in my model this change is applied also in the fyle system in Rhapsody).

According to the team collaboration this is possible only if using a CM tool.
We are using CVS and we want to continue using it.

Any suggestions??

Thanks,
jose.

I guess deleting a unit file from the file system will still remain users responsability ... that's the savest way :-D ... imaging you delete a Package unintentionally .. well in this case you can at least readd it from the files system

what you can do is to let Rhapsody automatically rename an unused (deleted unit file) into something else ... for example deffault.sbs.notused

See Property
General->Model->RenameUnsusedFiles
and
General->Model->RenameUnsusedFilesWith

Afterwards you can run a script or batch files (even inside Rhapsody) that searches for extentions and deletes the file

Does this make sense ?

Yes!!!!

This will help us to solve some of our problems, thank you very much!! :D

In relation to this, could anyone relate his experiences with team collaboration with Rhapsody? Do you find useful to use a CM tool like Synergy, ClearCase, etc?

We are not using anyone, and the big problem I find right now is that the project file .rpy contains a list of top-level units in a project.
If I store the project in a common directory and then allow people to make changes concurrently to different units in their local PC sharing the common project by reference, I can't maintain this .rpy file updated in the main directory (is a mesh if people make changes concurrently).

Do CM tools solve this problem?Will DiffMerge be a reliable solution to compare the changes made to this .rpy file? What is your experience with them?

Thanks again

I would recommend Subversion (with Tortoise client on windows) and to allow integration with Rhapsody via SCC, PushOK's SVNSCC interface.

I would also recommend using trac with subversion and deploying subversion using Apache.

A little bit to learn but worth it. Almost free as well. Small charge for PushOK software.

Regarding SVNSCC I can also recommend TamTam SVN SCC:

Works very well with Rhapsody.
